About Us

Founded in 1943 by David Packard and a group of visionary technology pioneers, the American Electronics Association (AeA) — later known simply as AeA — became one of the most influential technology trade associations in the United States.

For over six decades, AeA represented every segment of the technology industry: from semiconductors and software to aerospace, medical devices, and telecommunications. With nearly 3,000 member companies worldwide, AeA was a trusted voice in government advocacy, industry research, capital access, and global networking. Its annual Cyberstates report and Medal of Achievement awards became defining contributions to the technology community.

In 2001, reflecting its global expansion, the American Electronics Association rebranded as AeA with the tagline “Advancing the Business of Technology.” By 2009, AeA merged with the Information Technology Association of America (ITAA) to form TechAmerica, marking the end of an era but leaving behind a legacy that shaped generations of innovators.

In April 2020, the domain AEANET.ORG was revived as a new project — not as a trade association, but as a Technology & Innovation Knowledge Hub. Our mission today is to honor AeA’s legacy of advancing technology while adapting it to the digital knowledge age:

  • Transforming complexity into clarity with millions of FAQ-style articles.

  • Connecting global knowledge from hardware, software, emerging technologies, to the companies and people shaping the future.

  • Carrying forward the spirit of innovation, accessibility, and trust that defined AeA.

Today, AEANET.ORG stands as a living archive and a forward-looking platform — bridging the historic roots of the technology industry with the future of digital knowledge.
