Euclid Discoveries is Granted 3rd Patent from the United States Patent and Trademark Office

Patent extends protection for key advancements of EuclidVision(TM), a revolutionary video compression technology for consumer and commercial applications

CONCORD, Mass., Oct. 14 /PRNewswire/ -- Euclid Discoveries, a developer of video compression technologies, is pleased to announce that it has been granted a third patent from the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO). This third patent grant comes on the heels of their second patent, granted a few weeks earlier.

The recently granted third patent includes 16 additional claims which build upon their previously disclosed data compression methods, adding new and improved techniques to those of the company's first patent received in 2007 (No. 7158680). "These 16 claims expand and build upon the previously disclosed object-based modeling method. It is combined with conventional codec processing and provides additional benefit from: three dimensional and progressive deformation modeling, subspace manifold classification, and probabilistic object state prediction", said Charles Pace, the inventor and Chief Technologist for Euclid Discoveries.

The recently granted patent (No.7426285) is based on the Company's first patent which was granted in April 2007 for an apparatus and method for processing video data. The initial patent, which included 10 foundational claims for analyzing and synthesizing video signals, staked Euclid Discoveries' claim to key enabling discoveries in Computer Vision and Image Understanding -- technological underpinnings of future breakthroughs in video compression. The second patent (No. 7424157) added 19 additional claims to the first patent, and was awarded last month.

Richard Wingard, Euclid Discoveries' CEO and co-founder, said, "Securing each of the component aspects of our technology through individual patent protection further advances and solidifies our expanding position and recognized expertise in video processing and compression." Mr. Wingard noted that with the additional patents, Euclid currently has a total of 45 claims under patent with the U.S. patent office. "We are proud to have been granted these patents for our video processing methods. The patents lend further credence to the significance of our technological breakthroughs and help to secure our ownership of this critical new space in video processing."
