AeA Applauds Nomination of Rep. Chris Cox as SEC Chairman

Washington, DC – The following statement is attributed to William T. Archey, President and CEO of AeA, the nation’s largest high-tech trade association, in response to the nomination of Representative Christopher Cox (R-CA) as Chairman of the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC):

“AeA applauds the President for his nomination of Rep. Chris Cox as Chairman of the Securities and Exchange Commission.  For the last 17 years, Congressman Cox has effectively represented the 48th District of California, home to many high-tech companies, and he is very knowledgeable of the issues that are important to AeA and our member companies.

“During his tenure in the House of Representative, Congressman Cox has been a staunch supporter of the high-tech industry.  He has played an instrumental role in many legislative initiatives that have benefited high-tech, including securities litigation, the moratorium on Internet commerce taxes, and legislation to delay stock options expensing.

“He knows and supports high-tech, and it is great to have someone who understands our industry running the SEC.  AeA feels Congressman Chris Cox is an excellent choice to head the SEC and we look forward to working with him in the future.”
