About the Event II Speakers II Agenda || Registration II Sponsors

About the Event:

Countries like China, Japan, India, Australia and a number of others are developing regulations similar to the European RoHS, WEEE, or EuP Directives and maybe REACH-like legislation. States such as California have introduced legislation with a direct reference to EU RoHS Directive. These developments will affect the entire high-tech industry tremendously and does so already today.

This event will provide you with the latest global environment developments regarding the following Directives:

Come hear the latest analysis from the leading legal WEEE/RoHS source, Allen & Overy, LLP and receive European Environment Updates directly from Steve Andrews, UK Department of Trade and Industry (a leading government official).  Additionally, hear from industry peers on how their companies are complying and from AeA's experts in International and state environment issues.

You will learn:

  • How to comply with EU and China regulations that require manufacturers to finance the recycling and disposal of most electronics waste (WEEE Directive) and restrict the use of six Hazardous materials (RoHS Directive).
  • How to ensure your products are not stopped, or worse, rejected, at the border of an important overseas market.
  • The status of similar legislation in China, and in state legislatures.  What this means for the high-tech industry.
  • How focusing on eco-design & energy efficiency can give you a competitive advantage.
  • How to comply with REACH and all requirements for downstream users.
  • Overview of the REACH Regulation and all requirements for downstream users. Importers of articles into the EU will have to notify certain substances contained in these articles. Some chemicals might be subject to authorization for use in the EU.
  • Best practices from your peers.

Who should attend?

If you are manufacturing or selling your products abroad then you should attend this program – It is that simple! If your company sells anywhere around the world, there is a chance that the country you are selling in has or will adopt an environmental legislation which will affect your business strategy and ultimately your sales.

This program is designed to enable your managers, compliance executives, legal departments and environmental and facilities professionals to better understand and comply with these directives.  We strongly encourage you to bring your business and channel partners with you, since working together on these new requirements is essential to your company's success.
