April 2, 2008:  AeA Report Shows that Illinois’ Tech Industry Adds 3,600 Jobs
Nationally, Cyberstates 2008 shows that the high-tech industry added jobs for the third consecutive year. Tech industry employment totaled 5.9 million, after adding 91,400 jobs in 2007. This is on top of job gains of 139,000 in 2006 and 87,400 in 2005...read more.

: Ed Longanecker, Executive Director of AeA's Midwest Council, presented Edward Kaplan, Chairman, CEO, and Co-Founder of Zebra Technologies Corporation The Flame of Excellence Award to recognize his countless contributions to Zebra Technologies and the high-tech industry. "Under Mr. Kaplan's leadership, Zebra Technologies has become a leading employer and innovator in the high-tech industry with over 3,000 employees in 17 countries around the world," said Ed Longanecker. "In addition to his tireless dedication to Zebra employees, shareholders, and our industry, we are also honored to recognize Mr. Kaplan as one of the original founding executives of AeA's Midwest Council in 1985," added Longanecker. The committee will work to help shape public policy in the Midwest region, to enhance a healthy business climate for the high-tech industry and to raise the visibility of AeA and its member companies.
