Rules of Origin Subcommittee

Objective
The objective of the Rules of Origin Subcommittee is to represent member interests in preferential and non-preferential origin determination.  During the Uruguay Round of Multilateral Trade Negotiations at the World Trade Organization (WTO), an Agreement on Rules of Origin (ARO) was negotiated.  Work has been ongoing since 1995 in order to develop and agree on non-preferential origin rules.

In addition, committee members evaluate and provide comments on preferential origin rules developed by the U.S. Government for bilateral and regional free trade agreements.
