To the members of the
Math/Science Partnership Working Group
Below is an update on the
joint working group meeting held at AeA.
Summary of the joint
Math/Science Partnership Working Group and K-12 STEM Education Coalition
meeting of Monday, June 24
The Math/Science
Partnership Working Group and K-12 SMET/STEM Education Coalition met to
discuss the current status of activities to secure funding for the
Math/Science Partnership contained in the "No Child Left Behind"
Act. Items discussed included meetings with members of the House/Senate
Labor/HHS Appropriations Committee, a meeting with Rep. Vern Ehlers, and
action items. Materials were distributed to all attendees to assist in
efforts to increase funding for the Math/Science Partnership.
Action Items
Attendees agreed to touch
base with all members of the House/Senate Labor/HHS Subcommittee, with
a focus on Senate Appropriators. In addition, meetings will be
scheduled with those members that have yet to meet with either group. It
was agreed that we should focus on the Senate. The attached files denote
assignments by the group. As you can see, additional volunteers are
needed. If anyone is willing to schedule a meeting, drop off material or
has other info re. members of the Labor/HHS Committees, please let Patti,
Thom or Laura know.
