Meeting Notes
April 8, 2002
To the members of the
Math/Science Partnership Working Group:
I wanted to provide an
update on the activities of the Math/Science Partnership Working Group
Working Group to testify
before Appropriations Committee
The Chairman of the House
Labor/HHS Appropriations Subcommittee has invited the Working Group to
testify before his subcommittee on Tuesday, May 7. Richard Schaar, the
President of Texas Instruments Educational & Productivity Solutions
and a Senior Vice President of Texas Instruments will testify on behalf of
the Working Group and AeA in support of providing the full $450 million
for the math/science partnership authorized by the "No Child Left
Behind" Act.
Hill Meetings
The following meetings are
scheduled -
Thursday, April 11
4:00 p.m.: Meet with Cheryl
Smith, House Appropriations Committee Minority Staff, 1001 Longworth
Tuesday, April 16
10:00 a.m.: Meet with Betty
Lou Taylor, Senate Appropriations Committee Minority Staff, 188 Dirksen
Working Group Letter to the
Appropriators
The Working Group is
sending a letter to all of the appropriators in support of full funding
for the Math/Science partnership. If your company/organization has not yet
signed onto the letter, please do so by COB Friday, April 12.
Working Group Meetings
The Math/Science
Partnership Working Group will meet every week starting Monday April 15.
The next meetings of the working group are:
Monday, April 15, 2:00 p.m.
Monday, April 22, 2:00 p.m.
Monday, April 29, 2:00 p.m.
Monday, May 6, 2:00 p.m.
All meetings will be held
at AeA, 601 Pennsylvania Ave., NW, North Building, Suite 600 (entrance on
Indiana Avenue)
