House and Senate. President Bush signed the bill into law on August
9.

legislation in that it begins the process of returning the US to
preeminence in the global innovation economy. Congratulations to all those

content, but also in its passage," said Amjad Shamim, CEO of AAJ

Florida Legislature - End of Session Report
All-in all, this session was a mixed bag...mostly good news and some bad
news.
On the positive side, the passage
of the "Consumer Broadband Choice Act", which incorporates all
of the issues AeA has advocated in its
broadband development policy; the creation of a new state
technology agency (Agency for Enterprise Technology); the passage of the
SURE Venture Capital Act and the Institute for
Commercialization of Public Research; the
failure of the cell phone ban; and the failure of the internet
predator/on-line dating bill.
On the negative side, the failure of the student technology fee bill
and the bills to reduce the
communications services tax: The technology fee was an issue that had no
traction at all in the House. We'll
need to work on getting a House sponsor next year, and see if Senator
Lawson will re-file the bill in the Senate. Read the full
