Federal CIOs, Fortune 50 High Tech Companies Find Common Ground on Enterprise Architecture and Performance-Based Contracting
Third Executive Interchange connects US high tech industry with Washington

On Wednesday, August 23, AeA hosted its third annual Government-Industry Executive Interchange at the International Spy Museum in Washington, DC. The sold-out event brought together over sixty senior leaders in government and the tech industry to share best practices on performance-based contracting and enterprise architecture.

The event kicked off by a welcome from William T. Archey, President & CEO, AeA, before Timothy K. Young, Associate Administrator of E-Gov and Information Technology, Office of Management and Budget (OMB), outlined President Bush's $64B 2007 IT Budget. This is a three-percent increase from last year with key expenditures focusing on Homeland Security (21% increase) and health related IT investment (5.3% increase) such as biosurveillance, electronic health records, chronic care delivery, and consumer empowerment.

“Economically, we have to have these types of sessions,” said Greg Poersch, National Director of Procurement, AeA. “Between a war, emergencies, disasters and everyday needs, there are three defined entities - the Government, their partners, and the constituents – and these meetings provide information on how to best meet third parties needs. We are working hard to figure out what we can do to help, and how we can work better, cheaper, and smarter to meet the growing needs in today’s world.”

Additional panelists at the event included:

  • Scott Charbo, Chief Information Officer, U.S. Dept. of Homeland Security;

  • Mike Gaffney, President, CSC Federal;

  • Scott Hefter, Leader Director, Government Procurement Practice, PRTM;

  • Vance Hitch, Chief Information Officer, U.S. Dept. of Justice;

  • Dan Mintz, Chief Information Officer, U.S. Dept. of Transportation;

  • Bryan Schromsky, National Data Solutions Manager, Verizon Wireless;

  • Alfred Toussaint, Federal Marketing Manager, Intel;

  • Marty Wagner, Acting Deputy Commissioner, Federal Acquisition Service, U.S. General Services Administration; and

  • James A. Williams, Commissioners, Federal Acquisition Service, U.S. General Services Administration.

AeA will host similar events on a quarterly basis rather than an annual. The next Interchange is scheduled for Wednesday, December 6, and will focus on Identity Management: Biometric and RFID Technologies for Dept. of Defense and Intelligence agencies.
