Current Assignment: Chief Operating
Officer and Chief Financial Officer for New Cub Foods, a $500 million
retailer. A Cerberus Capital Management investment relating to the $17
billion Albertsons transaction completed by Cerberus with Supervalu and CVS
Drugs in April 2005.
Previously: Executive Vice President – Acquisitions; SSA Global. Mr.
Walles was with SSA Global from 2000 to 2005. Mr. Walles oversaw the due
diligence and operational integration function of SSA Global. The primary
goal of this function was to align new acquisitions with the core SSA Global
“Customer Focus” strategy and to effectively integrate these acquisitions
into the SSA Global operating model. SSA Global completed nine acquisitions
in three years that took revenue from $130 million to almost $800 million.
The significant acquisitions during this time were the INTERBIZ division of
CA; a $100 million ERP division, BAAN; a $250 million ERP company, EXE; a
$90 million supply chain company and Epiphany; a $70 million CRM company.
Cerberus Capital Management was the majority investor in SSA Global
Prior to joining SSA Global: Mr. Walles was Vice President and CFO of
Composites One from 1993 to 2000, the largest North American distributor of
Composite Materials with annual revenues of over $650 million. During his
tenure with Composites One (previously GLS Corp), Mr. Walles helped grow the
company from $160 million to $650 million over six years through a
combination of organic and acquisition initiatives. From 1991 to 1993, Mr.
Walles served as Senior Finance Officer and Treasurer of IIT Research
Institute, a supplier of Software and Engineering Services primarily to the
U.S. Government as well as other governmental agencies globally. From 1979
to 1990, Mr. Walles worked in a number of Operational and Financial
positions with AAR Corp., a global supplier of Equipment and Logistics
Support to the Aviation Industry.
Education:
Mr. Walles graduated in 1978 with a BA in Accounting and Business Economics
from Benedictine University. In 1985, he received his MBA from DePaul
University. Mr. Walles is also a CPA from the State of Illinois.
