Bruce Chizen, the President and CEO of Adobe Systems led a list of luminaries that attended AeA’s annual High Tech Government dinner on June 15, 2004. Hosted by the AeA Board of Directors, more than 400 people attended the dinner including several Members of Congress, 30 Chief Information Officers and procurement officials from over 20 different Federal agencies, officials from the White House and the Bush Administration, and dozens of CEO’s representing high-tech companies.

Mr. Chizen provided the keynote address at the dinner, which has become a premier event featuring leaders from both the public and private sectors. In his keynote address, Mr. Chizen described a vision of the federal government transforming into a more citizen-centric government, “one where both constituents and agencies and departments win.” Mr. Chizen also stressed the need for the government and the commercial sector to collaborate. Mr. Chizen advocated for “a partnership where government and the high-tech sector work together to deliver on the government’s vision by providing the innovation necessary to transform it to a collaborative government, better equipped to meet its mission.”

A reception was held prior to the dinner, where AeA members met with leading officials of the Federal government and Congress, including Rep. Pete Sessions (R-TX); Rep. Steny Hoyer (D-MD); Rep. George Nethercutt (R-WA); Steve Cooper, the Chief Information Officer of the Department of Homeland Security; Dee Lee, the Director of Procurement Policy for the Department of Defense; and John Lowell, the Ambassador from Malta. Earlier in the day, the AeA Board of Directors met with several members of Congress to lobby on the following issues: stock-option expensing; the international tax bill, which contains an extension of the R&D tax credit; and export controls.

AeA would like to thank those companies who sponsored the event, including Adobe Systems, SafeNet, Cisco Systems, DRS Technologies, Aetna, Juniper Networks, Hewlett-Packard, Federal Computer Week, Potomac Forum, and Marsh Advantage America. AeA thanks them for their generous support in making the event a success.

Founded in 1943, AeA has grown into the nation’s largest trade association representing the high-tech industry, with more than 3,000 members and 19 offices, including offices in Beijing and Brussels.
