Post Election Labor Updates
What every IT firm needs to know.

Presenter - Maurice Baskin, Venable LLP

There is a broad consensus of opinion that the upcoming elections will bring about dramatic changes in Labor and Employment law. The Employee Free Choice Act, if enacted, will bring about the most revolutionary change in the law governing union organizing in the past 50 years. A major expansion of the Americans With Disabilities Act has already been passed and will take effect in January, along with the likely enactment of new civil rights damage laws, paid sick leave laws, government blacklisting of labor law violators, expanded enforcement of immigration sanctions against employers, and increased OSHA regulation. These changes will affect employers of every size and every industry.

Join us as Maurice Baskin identifies the key changes to note and how best to navigate the waters ahead.

Massachusetts Data Breach Webinar
On September 22nd, Massachusetts issued strict data breach regulations that establish minimum standards to be met in connection with safeguarding personal information. Since these regulations apply to any business or group maintaining personal information of Massachusetts residents (not only MA-based entities), your company need not be located in Massachusetts to be subject to these regulations. Please note that these Massachusetts regulations exceed the requirements of Gramm-Leach-Bliley and HIPAA. They also apply to both electronic and paper records.

With the January 1, 2009 compliance deadline rapidly approaching, businesses need to understand these rules and adapt new processes and procedures to address them. Join us to gain a better understanding of these regulations and what they mean for your company.
