2006 Alumnus Award Recipient

N.W. (Bill) Jasper, Jr.
President, Director, and Chief Executive Officer
Dolby Laboratories

Attracted to the prospect of helping shape the future of a young technology company, Bill Jasper joined Dolby Laboratories in 1979 as Vice President, Finance and Administration. In 1981, Bill became Executive Vice President, and was named company President in 1983. Over the last 25 years, he has led the company's successful transition from an analog audio pioneer to a digital entertainment company that has made consumers aware of just how good audio can sound. In recent years, Bill has been leading Dolby through another exciting transformation—shifting from a company with a focus on pure audio to one that is widely recognized for its world-class expertise in both audio and video. Bill is a member of the Audio Engineering Society (AES) and the Society of Motion Picture and Television Engineers (SMPTE), and is an at-large member of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences (AMPAS). He is a member of the boards of directors of Dolby and Focus Enhancements, a company that creates advanced, proprietary video technology. He is also a member of the Board of Trustees of Saint Mary's College of California and plays clarinet in the Bohemian Club band. Bill received a BS in industrial engineering from Stanford University , and an MBA in finance from the University of California , Berkeley .

Dan Warmenhoven
Chief Executive Officer

Network Appliance, Inc.

Mr. Warmenhoven joined Network Appliance in October 1994 and led the company's initial public offering in November 1995. Today, Network Appliance has over 2,500 employees worldwide with distribution channels in over 100 countries. Network Appliance is included in both the S&P 500 and NASDAQ 100 indices, and has been ranked as one of Fortune Magazine's "100 Best Companies to Work for." In 2001, Business Week named Dan as one of their "Top 25 Managers for the Year." Dan was also selected by Ernst & Young in 2001 as a recipient in their Entrepreneur of the Year awards program for the e-business category.

Previously, he served as chairman, president and CEO of Network Equipment Technologies (N.E.T.) a telecommunications manufacturer. He also is a veteran of Hewlett-Packard Co., (HP), where he held senior management positions including general manager of the Information Networks Group. Prior to HP, Dan was a 13-year veteran of IBM Corporation in the Communications Products Division, where one of his positions included engineering manager for the token-ring local area network.

He holds a bachelor of science degree in electrical engineering, with honors from Princeton University.

 

Marv Tseu
Director and Chairman of the Board
Plantronics, Inc.

Marv Tseu has more than 30 years of experience founding, developing and leading networking and communication companies. From his early work developing AT&T's consumer products division, to the $1.4 billion acquisition of Internet infrastructure start-up SiteSmith, Marv has demonstrated an ability to identify large markets with unmet needs and the operational savvy to build companies. Marv grew SiteSmith, a provider of high-performance, mission-critical Internet site management services, from 11 employees in 1999 to 400 employees and $20M in revenues a year later.

Prior to co-founding SiteSmith, Marv was president of Structured Internetworks, Inc., a network communications hardware firm focused on facilitating enterprise traffic flow to the WAN and Internet. Previously, he led Plantronics' leveraged buyout and subsequent IPO. He held various positions at Plantronics including vice president of sales and marketing, and president of subsidiary Clarity. Marv also served as executive vice president of marketing and sales at CIDCO, Inc., a telecommunications product company.

He holds a B.A. in economics from Stanford University.
