Your membership in AeA is a great investment and one of the benefits of that investment is a full-time lobbyist representing the needs of the technology community in Olympia. The state of Washington, through actions taken by the Legislature and agencies, has a profound impact on your business. Issues such as securing a well-trained workforce, transportation, broadband deployment, and maintaining current tax incentives, are just a few of the issues impacting your ability to sustain and grow your business. Many of you have helped bring these issues to Olympia through your real-life experiences regarding how proposed laws and rules will impact your business and AeA has been there to enhance your efforts and support your concerns. This is a vital part of AeA’s mission, and these activities are supported by your annual membership dues.

But there is another piece to the puzzle of achieving our legislative objectives in Olympia, and that is ensuring we are represented by individuals who believe our industry should lead the way to building a stronger economy in Washington. Getting those legislators elected, and re-elected, takes money. AeA is committed to supporting the campaigns of those legislators who make the effort to become informed about our issues and then deliver the results we need through effective, bipartisan leadership.

Historically, large member companies have funded the Washington AeA PAC. However, this year we are asking all members to participate, because it is time for AeA to have a greater impact on electing individuals who understand our industry and support good business policy.

The money used to support candidates must come from you. A relatively small amount of money given to a candidate can have a significant impact on the outcome of a tight race. The Washington AeA PAC is your opportunity to leverage your funds by joining with other individuals and companies who care about sound technology policy in making contributions to those candidates who support our issues. We are suggestion a contribution (either personal or corporate) of $200 to help support the legislators and candidates who support us. The Washington AeA PAC is administered by members who actively participate in the giving process and a gift of $500 or more will garner you a vote in deciding which candidates receive support from the PAC.

Good government requires action. Let’s take action today to create a state Legislature that is committed to ensuring Washington’s technology community can thrive in an environment conducive to business development and growth. Please sit down right now and make out your check to the Washington AeA PAC…it will be one of the best investments you make.
