(TLC)

The Technology Leadership Coalition (TLC)
is a governmental affairs organization whose mission is to relate the
interests and concerns of technology companies to Georgia lawmakers.
It's members have a simple goal: to consolidate and extend the state's
competitive advantages in an information-based economy through the
adoption of sound public policy. For more information on the issues
important to TLC members use this link to read the
2007
Technology Leadership Coalition Legislative Agenda.
As a service to its members, the TLC
provides weekly reports on activities of the Georgia General
Assembly.
Organized in 2000 in the wake of an AeA
(American Electronics Association) event for members of the Georgia
General Assembly, the TLC includes local firms and organizations, Fortune
500 corporations and Dow Jones Industrial Average component companies with
operations around the globe.
Prior to the legislative session, the TLC
holds an annual series of policy forums around the state, which give
executives from technology companies opportunities to meet with elected
officials and policymakers to discuss ideas and policies that can help the
technology industry continue to drive Georgia's economic development.
These sessions form the basis of the TLC's legislative agenda for the
year. During the legislative session, the TLC maintains a full-time
legislative team at the Capitol to assist lawmakers with critical issues
that impact our industry.
In addition, the TLC brings lawmakers and
technology leaders together during legislative sessions through its
High Tech Day at the Capitol-
an annual event that includes meetings with top officials, an evening
reception, and awards for lawmakers and others who make an exceptional
efforts on behalf of the industry. The TLC focuses its efforts on
issues at the junction of technology and public policy, counseling
legislators on such matters as consumer privacy, e-commerce, economic
development, education, environmental protection, telecommuting and worker
training.
Leaders
of the TLC have included Eric Tanenblatt, who served as chief of
staff to Governor Sonny Perdue, Carlos
Cardoso, SE Regional Manager for Government Relations for Hewlett
Packard, Brenda Jones, Director of Governmental Affairs for CheckFree.
The TLC is currently chaired by Jeff Katz (bio),
President of Definition6. The TLC is administered by the AeA and its
lobbyist, Cathy Woolard, former President of Atlanta City Council.
