Policy Matters - Your Vote Matters

Tuesday is Election Day and there is more to this than blue vs. red.  We have to decide who will represent us at the federal, state and local levels.  We also have a number of laws and funding proposals we need to approve or defeat.

I’m not going to tell you how to vote.  But I am asking you to make the time to educate yourself on the candidates and the issues and then vote.  Your vote is important.  As Franklin D. Roosevelt said, "Let us never forget that government is ourselves and not an alien power over us.  The ultimate rulers of our democracy are not a President and senators and congressmen and government officials, but the voters of this country."

AeA provides members the opportunity to meet with key U.S. government officials and Congress.  Our members’ engagement with regulators and legislators steers regulatory and legislative issues toward a positive outcome for the tech industry.

Nearly 157,000 bills are introduced in state legislatures each year, any of which could impact your bottom line – positively or negatively.  AeA’s comprehensive State Government Affairs program gives you critical information to allow you to adapt and react to changing conditions.

AeA’s international offices in Brussels and Beijing work hard to provide you with the latest on regulatory, legislative, and industry developments abroad.

Locally, the mission of AeA’s Policy Matters Initiative is to engage our members in the political process and ensure government understands the value the technology industry contributes to our economy, helps promote our industry, and doesn’t interfere with the industry’s ability to innovate and bring new products to market.

The law of unintended consequences has impacted every business at one time or another.  Don’t be left out of the conversation.

Please join us in advancing the business of technology.

Regards,
