new Free Trade Agreement will impact both countries. |
Event Summary
On June 20, 2003, the program entitled Chile as a Gateway to Latin
America addressed the business opportunities in the IT Sector, the free
trade agreement opportunities for U.S. companies, and the importance of
Latin America to the high-tech industry. The Ambassador of Chile to the
United States, Andrés Bianchi, opened the program by addressing the
benefits of investing in Chile and what benefits the Free Trade Agreement (FTA)
will present to U.S. companies, once ratified.
Program attendees heard from a variety of speakers representing companies
who already have a presence in Chile, as well as representatives from the
Chilean Economic Development Agency, who offered information on the
political and economic climate there. Among companies to share their stories
were Citigroup, Entel Call Center and ALTEC Center, Santander Bank.
