John
V. Harker is Chairman of the National Board of the American Electronics
Association (AeA), and he is a member of the Executive Committee of the
Oregon Council of the AeA.
Mr. Harker is Chairman of the Board of
InFocus Corporation. He became president and CEO of InFocus in April 1992,
and was named chairman in 1994. Under his leadership InFocus has emerged as
the industry leader in digital projection. The company is known for
innovation and has expanded its markets to include consumer, home theater
projection and image engines for High Definition Television.
From 1984 to 1992 he was Executive Vice President and a member of the Board of Directors of Genicom Corporation, a manufacturer of computer printers. Before that, Mr. Harker served as Senior Vice President for Marketing and Corporate Development of Data Products, Inc. (1982-84), and as Vice President and partner of Booz
Allen & Hamilton (1979-82). Still earlier (1963-79), he worked at IBM Corporation in various managerial and executive capacities. He holds a Bachelor of Science degree in marketing from the University of Colorado.
Mr. Harker is a member of the Business Advisory Council of the Leeds School of Business at the University of Colorado and chairs the Business Advisory Council at the School of Business Administration at Portland State University. He serves on the Board of Trustees of the Oregon Museum of Science and Industry (OMSI) and is on the Executive Advisory and Review Committee of Alexander Hutton Venture Partners, L.P. He is a member of the Board of Directors of Max.Viz, an enhanced vision system manufacturer for the aviation industry.
Mr. Harker was born in Denison, Iowa, and is married to the former Judith Skelley. They have three children: Julie; John, Jr.; and James. In his spare time, Mr. Harker enjoys golfing, skiing, hiking and biking and is an active member of his church. The Harkers reside in Lake Oswego, Oregon.
