An increasing number of "activist" state legislatures are embracing issues that have traditionally been federal in nature, including Internet regulation and telecommunications. Areas such as Internet sales taxes, broadband deployment, data privacy and the banning of hazardous materials are all in play, and these efforts have by and large been aimed at the high-tech industry.
AeA realizes that the ability to project force and influence policy at the state legislative and regulatory level is more important than ever to the high-tech industry if it is to
thrive and survive. AeA is the
only high-tech trade association with the ability to protect your interests comprehensively at the state level.
AeA's state government affairs is member-driven, our
policy committees actively monitor and impact legislation in a number of critical issue areas important to the IT community.

At
AeA's semi-annual
State Government Affairs
meetings, high-tech state government affairs professionals
from across the nation gather to share the latest news from state
legislative sessions and to strategize for the future. Members discuss
important issues surrounding high-tech at the state level and how to
focus AeA's State Government Affairs program to address their
legislative needs. Between
the meetings, AeA hosts regular conference calls on the issues and
intelligence is shared on AeA's SGA Information Network, including:
