AeA Southeast Council Launches Green Initiative;
Hosts Summit on Green Technology in Atlanta

Alpharetta, GA (May 8, 2008) – In an effort to help local member companies develop policies and programs that have a positive impact on the environment, AeA’s Southeast Council today announced a new “Green” initiative – a series of events concentrating on reducing waste and safely eliminating hazardous materials. The summit series will kick off today with an environmental pledge and panel discussion, “Going Green…Think Globally, Profit Locally”, that will focus on environmental strategies for high-tech companies.

“Launching a ‘Green’ initiative and taking a leadership role in this region will enable AeA to empower member companies who conduct business in the Southeast states to become better stewards of natural resources,” said Glen Whitley, Executive Director of AeA’s Southeast Council.

“We are fortunate to have a great group of organizations that will bring fresh thinking and innovative approaches to help guide technology companies as they begin to launch ‘green’ programs,” said Steve Foster, Urban Advisor Community and Economic Development, Georgia Power, and host of the event. “It’s a great way for the AeA to launch this most important effort in the southeast.”

The first half-day summit, sponsored by Intel and hosted by Georgia Power, will feature a comprehensive overview of AeA’s Southeast Council efforts to promote “Green” technology - focusing on a host of issues including environmental laws and regulations that impact technology companies as well as case studies that highlight some of the best practices in the region.

Held from 8 AM to noon at the Georgia Power’s Resource Center in Atlanta’s Technology Square, the seminar will feature a number of informative presentations from a wide range of organizations and the following confirmed speakers:

· Ramsay Battin, Director, Venture Capital, Arcapita Investments;
· Cyrus Bhedwar, State Energy Program Manager, GEFA;
· Jonathan Bragdon, Tricycle;
· Martin Rickerd, British Consulate General, UK Trade & Investment;
· Chuck Ros, Emerald Software;
· Robert Shults, Strategic Public Sector Programs, Intel; and
· Mike Williams, Program Manager, Georgia Clean Air Campaign.
