Washington, DC (April 25, 2007) —
The following statement can be attributed to William T. Archey, President & CEO,
AeA, on Speaker Pelosi’s updated Innovation Agenda.
“AeA, formerly the American Electronics Association, strongly endorses Speaker
Nancy Pelosi’s Innovation Agenda. When Mrs. Pelosi came to AeA headquarters this
past November, she stated that she wanted to see the competitiveness bills
passed with bipartisan support with votes approximating 350 members of the
House. Yesterday, a math and science education bill passed with a vote of 389 to
22, and an R&D basic research bill with a margin of 397 to 20.
AeA emphatically applauds Speaker Pelosi’s leadership, not in just pushing the
Innovation Agenda, but also in her raising the consciousness of members of the
Congress about the competitiveness challenges facing America. We are well along
now in facing those challenges and we would not be where we are without her
leadership and direction.”
