Alpharetta, GA – Georgia State
representatives Amos Amerson (R-Dahlonega) and Bob Smith (R-Watkinsville), along
with Atlanta technology executive Robert Horne, president of CCC Inc., are the
2009 recipients of the Georgia Technology Policy Leadership Awards.
The Technology Policy Leadership Awards are given
annually to government officials and technology executives who demonstrate
exceptional support of the technology industry in Georgia by the Technology
Leadership Coalition (TLC), comprised of several state technology groups and
technology companies including the Technology Association of Georgia (TAG) and
TechAmerica Southeast Council.
“All three of our 2009 honorees have been tireless
supporters of the state’s technology community,” said David Smith, vice
president and general manager, Defense and Space, EMS Technologies, and
TechAmerica Southeast Council board member who is serving as 2009 chairman of
the Technology Leadership Coalition. “We are extremely grateful for their
efforts on behalf of the high-tech industry.”
“We are pleased to join TechAmerica Southeast
Council to recognize these outstanding individuals for their service to the
technology,” said Tino Mantella, president of TAG.
“I am appreciative of the Georgia Technology Policy
Leadership Award,” said Rep. Amerson. “I consider technology and innovation to
be the future growth areas of this state. It is my duty to promote this industry
and to insure that no harmful legislation is allowed to pass.”
“In this time of economic difficulty, we are all
working to expand high technology in Georgia, both by helping create and grow
companies that build technology solutions and by encouraging all businesses to
adopt technology in their operations," said Robert Horne.
The awards were given by TLC during a reception
following High Tech Day at the state Capitol on February 11, 2008. The 2008
recipients were Sen. Judson Hill (R-Marietta) and Patrick Moore, executive
director of the Georgia Technology Authority and the State CIO.
