Group to Recognize Orange County’s Most Innovative Educators and Students:
Awards process showcases innovative approaches to preparing students for
21st century global marketplace
Irvine, CA, February 11, 2008
– Project Tomorrow, the nation’s
leading nonprofit group focused on science, math and technology education,
in partnership with AeA Orange County Council is calling for nominations
from the Orange County community to recognize outstanding education leaders
and students for their innovative uses of science, math and technology. The
3rd annual Innovation in Education Awards process is open to all public and
private schools in Orange County and nomination forms are available on
Project Tomorrow’s website,
http://www.tomorrow.org/community/innovationawards.html. The 2008
Innovation in Education Awards are sponsored by Emulex and the award
recipients will be announced at the
15th Annual
AeA High Tech Innovation Awards dinner on Tuesday, April 29th at the
Hyatt Irvine.
Project Tomorrow is seeking
nominations in three categories this year:

Innovative School Program in
Science, Math, & Technology – honoring the strong leadership of a school
principal in driving innovation in education
-
High Impact Teacher in
Science, Math & Technology – acknowledging the influence of a great
teacher in preparing his/her students to compete and thrive in the 21st
century
-
Emerging Student Innovator –
recognizing students who are creatively using science, math and
technology resources to solve a school or community problem
“With all of the national discussion on global
competitiveness and improving education, this awards process provides a
unique opportunity to celebrate and showcase the principals, teachers and
students in Orange County that are not just talking about innovation in the
classroom, but actually doing it everyday,” said Julie Evans, Project
Tomorrow’s CEO.
Nominations for the 2008 Project Tomorrow Innovation in
Education awards may be self-submitted or submitted by a district and/or
school staff person. Organizations such as a PTA unit, parent advisory
committee, or any youth based organization(s) are also eligible to nominate.
An independent review panel of national and local education and business
leaders will select this year’s award recipients.
Applications are due by the end of the business day,
Thursday, March 13, 2008, at 5p.m. All nominations must be submitted via
e-mail to innovation@tomorrow.org
or by fax (949-609-4665). Finalists will be notified by March 24, 2008.
Award recipients will be announced on April 29, 2008.
