September 11, 2008 -- Trends in Executive Compensation
AUDIENCE: CEOs, CFOs, COOs, Presidents, VPs and Human Resources
professionals.
When faced with uncertainty and changing business conditions, your
organization's most critical asset -- talent -- is at its highest risk of
loss or demotivation. Companies may not realize their employees' full
potential or worse, risk losing the "difference makers" because they fail to
adapt existing compensation systems to new business realities. Compensation
plans that work in a stable market can have unintended consequences in more
volatile conditions, creating a disconnect between pay and actual results.
The prospect of reduced or zero value from the stock option plan can drive
inappropriate risk-taking while creating retention issues. Join us for a
webinar that covers what is going on today in equity-based compensation,
strategies to address underwater stock options and more. Two speakers from
Grant Thornton, LLP will lead this event: Donald Nemerov, Compensation and
Benefits Practice and Jim Gandurks, CBC Director.
COST: Free for AeA Members, $25 Non-members.

September 25, 2008 -- Regulatory Compliance: What You Need to Know About
International Traffic in Arms Regulations
AUDIENCE: Executives and managers from technology companies of all sizes
engaged in, or interested in, international trade; as well as investors,
directors and venture capitalists looking to understand how ITAR can affect
M&A transactions, business valuations and company operations.
In today’s global economy, companies need to understand fully U.S. export
regulations -- even those who do not directly sell their products overseas.
U.S. export regulations are increasingly complex and wide-ranging, and those
who fail to apply proper diligence to this area are vulnerable to heavy
fines and serious legal repercussions. One such export regulation is the
ITAR, International Traffic in Arms Regulations, covering companies of all
sizes who sell to the Defense Department, whether or not they directly
export products to foreign markets. International trade regulations like the
ITAR also are a growing factor influencing internal company operations and
M&A transactions.
COST: $50 members; $100 non-members.
