Ken Montgomery
Director, International Trade Regulation

Ken Montgomery is the Director of International Trade Regulation for AeA, the largest U.S. high-tech trade association, representing 2,500 U.S.-based technology companies. Based in Washington, DC, he acts as lead policy analyst and lobbyist for trade regulation issues, focusing on customs and export controls. He also performs the role of secretariat for the High Technology Shippers’ Coalition -- a consortium of six technology associations and 25+ industry leading companies --  which concentrates on transportation and security initiatives. 

Mr. Montgomery is a licensed U.S. Customs Broker and has over 15 years of management and consulting experience in global trade and logistics organizations at Fortune 500 companies. Prior to joining AeA, Ken managed his own firm and worked with clients in Atlanta, Georgia on customs compliance matters including C-TPAT, internal trade compliance policy and corporate training and development.

From 2001 to 2003, Mr. Montgomery worked with Hewlett-Packard Company in Palo Alto, California to develop and implement an internal policy program for global customs and export compliance. In this position he also led a team of global trade, logistics and business unit representatives to create a training curriculum and provide global awareness to the corporate policies.

During his professional career Mr. Montgomery has also worked for IBM, Watkins-Johnson, Incyte and Amdahl Corporation. As part of the global trade and logistics organization at Amdahl, he managed several functions including worldwide inventory control and business operations to ensure adherence to global customs and export regulations. He also managed a customs bonded warehouse in Amsterdam. Mr. Montgomery has completed projects and assignments in the U.K., Germany, Ireland, and the Netherlands.

He received his bachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineering from Purdue University and an MBA in International Business from Golden Gate University in San Francisco, California, where he received the outstanding graduate award. Mr. Montgomery is currently a member of the adjunct faculty at American InterContinental University where he teaches international business and business management courses.
