Speakers
Robert E. Grady serves as Fund Head for Carlyle’s
U.S. venture and growth
capital group, Carlyle Venture Partners (“CVP”). In addition, Mr. Grady
coordinates Carlyle’s global venture and growth capital effort, which has
over $3 billion under management in eight funds. He serves on the
investment committees of CVP, Carlyle Asia Growth Partners (“CAGP”) and
Carlyle Europe Technology Partners (“CETP”). He is based in San
Francisco.
Mr. Grady is a former Director of Blackboard (Nasdaq: “BBBB”)
and currently serves on the Board of Directors of Carlyle portfolio
companies AuthenTec, The Health Central Network, Ingenio, Panasas, Secure
Elements, Verari Systems, and USBX. Mr. Grady is a former director and
served as Chairman in 2006-2007 of the National Venture Capital Association
(NVCA).
Prior to joining Carlyle, Mr. Grady was a Managing Director
and member of the Management Committee at Robertson Stephens, the San
Francisco-based technology investment bank. At Robertson Stephens, he served
as lead investment banker on over 150 public market financings and M&A
transactions, and was an active venture capital investor.
Mr. Grady served from 1994 to 2004 on the faculty of the
Stanford Graduate School of Business, where he taught a course on "Investing
in Highly Regulated Industries."
Mr. Grady served in the White House from 1989-1993, as Deputy
Assistant to President George H.W. Bush and as Executive Associate Director
of the Office of Management and Budget (1991-1993) and as Associate Director
of OMB for Natural Resources, Energy and Science (1989-1991). He
previously served as Chief Speechwriter and Senior Advisor for the
successful 1988 Bush/Quayle Presidential Campaign (1988); Director of
Communications for New Jersey Governor Thomas H. Kean (1983-1986); and
Legislative Assistant and then Chief of Staff to U.S. Congresswoman
Millicent Fenwick (1979-1983).
Mr. Grady is an honors graduate of
Harvard College and holds
an M.B.A. from the Stanford Graduate School of Business.
Mr. Grady has been active in clean technology and
environmental protection for over 25 years. He was one of the principal
drafters and negotiators of the Clean Air Act Amendments of 1990 and was
credited by The Economist magazine, among others, with being the chief
architect of that law’s innovative trading system for sulfur dioxide
emissions. He served on the
U.S.
delegation to the 1992 Rio Earth Summit, was Chairman of the Board of
Resources for the Future (“RFF”), and chaired the group that wrote
California Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger’s Environmental Action Plan for
the successful 2003 California gubernatorial campaign. Today he is a member
of the National Commission on Energy Policy and a Trustee of Environmental
Defense.
Mr. Grady also serves on the Advisory Council of the RBC's
Strategic Technology Fund and the board of the Asia America Multi-Industry
Association (AAMA).

Patrick
Haden is a General Partner of Riordan, Lewis & Haden ("RLH"), a private
equity firm, which invests in high growth middle market companies. He has been a partner with RLH since 1987 and has
successfully guided many of the firm's portfolio companies through rapid
growth and the public market process. Mr. Haden currently is on the Board of
Directors of four companies which range in revenue size from $100 million to
$1.3 billion. He serves on the board of Tetra Tech, Inc. (NASDAQ: TTEK),
IndyMac Bancorp (NYSE: NDE), and Bradshaw International, Inc.
Mr.
Haden graduated from the University of
Southern California (Magna Cum
Laude and Phi Beta Kappa) in 1975 and was awarded a Rhodes scholarship to
Oxford University in England. He graduated from
Oxford in 1978 with a B.A. in Economics and received his J.D. from Loyola
Law School
in 1982.
Mr.
Haden was quarterback for the USC football team from 1972-1974, leading them
to two National Championships and three Rose Bowl appearances. He was named
Co-Most Valuable Player of the 1975 Rose Bowl. Mr. Haden was also named an
Academic All-American in 1973 and 1974 and he is a member of the Academic
All American Hall of Fame, the Rose Bowl Hall of Fame, the National High
School Hall of Fame and the USC Hall of Fame and he was awarded the NCAA’s
Silver Anniversary Award. He played professional football for seven
seasons, six of those with the Los Angeles Rams. He was named the Ram's
Rookie of the Year in 1976, was named to the Pro Bowl in 1977 and was named
the National Football Conference Player of the Year in 1978 by the
Washington, D.C.

Panelists
Robert Anderson is the Senior Relationship Manager for the
Orange County office of
Silicon Valley Bank. Robert is responsible for the existing portfolio of
relationships, which range from start-up technology and life science
companies to later stage and publicly traded corporate clients.
Mr.
Anderson first joined the SVB in 1993 and has held several lending
positions, providing clients with financing solutions ranging from asset
based loans to private equity buy-out transactions. In early 1998, Robert
joined the Bank’s National Healthcare Practice which targeted start-up and
later stage healthcare service providers. Prior to taking over the Orange
County portfolio in 2006, Robert ran the asset based loan portfolio for the
Southern California
region in support of SVB’s San Diego, Orange County and Los Angeles offices.
Mr.
Anderson also worked with Prudential Vector Securities in its healthcare
group and then later with Prudential Securities semiconductor and capital
equipment group in
New York.
Mr.
Anderson holds a B.S. degree from San Diego State University and an MBA from
the University of Notre Dame.

Michael Carr joined American Capital as a Vice President in
the West Coast Buyout Team. Previously, Mr. Carr was the Managing Partner of
BAC Investments, a lower middle market equity firm that focused on
outsourcing providers, business services, and value-added distribution
companies. Mr. Carr’s activities included originating, evaluating, and
structuring financial transactions. Prior to founding BAC, Mr. Carr spent 10
years as an operating executive where he successfully mapped the strategic
and operational paths of middle market companies that were struggling with
succession issues.
Mr. Carr often speaks at various business events on the
topics of business succession and the role of Private Equity. He is actively
involved with professional organizations and is the Immediate Past President
of the Los Angeles Chapter of ACG. Mr. Carr also currently serves on the
Global Board of ACG.
Mr. Carr received his M.B.A. from the Graziadio School of
Business and Management at
Pepperdine University and
received his B.S. from Cal State University.

Kevin C.
Daly is an accomplished technology industry veteran with over 30 years of
experience guiding innovative start-up organizations toward market
leadership. He brings a wealth of data storage expertise to iStor Networks,
having played a pivotal role in the success of some of the industry’s most
recognized companies. Mr. Daly’s impressive background includes a five-year
tenure as CEO of ATL Products, Inc., the pioneer of the first open systems
tape libraries and OEM supplier to such companies as Sun Microsystems, EMC
and HP. Under his guidance, ATL reached $400 million in annual revenue,
culminating in its 1997 IPO and subsequent acquisition by worldwide tape
drive leader Quantum Corporation in 1998. Mr. Daly remained CEO of the newly
formed entity, Quantum/ATL, and eventually transitioned to CTO of Quantum’s
Storage Solutions Group, where he oversaw the development of the first
disk-based virtual tape library.
Mr. Daly’s
prior experience also includes a CEO post with Avamar Technologies, a
venture funded start-up that evolved to become the industry’s leading
provider of data protection software with deduplication. Avamar was acquired
by storage giant EMC in 2006 for $165 million. Mr. Daly is currently the CEO
of MAXxess Systems, Inc. a leading supplier of networked electronic security
solutions for the commercial, medical and educational markets.
He
serves on the boards of Danka Business Systems PLC, iStor Networks, Inc.,
Maxxess Systems, Inc., and Iteris, Inc., and is an advisory board member for
his alma mater, Princeton University. Mr. Daly is a regular speaker at
technology conferences and has published numerous articles.

Matthew. Grimes is a Senior Business Development Officer for GoldenTree
Asset Management, L.P., an investment management firm with more than $13
billion under management. The firm has multiple investment vehicles,
including the Capital Solutions Group which is responsible for direct
lending and equity co-investments. Mr. Grimes, who opened GoldenTree’s Los
Angeles in 2006, is responsible for sourcing, analyzing, structuring,
pricing, and negotiating investments for the Capital Solutions Group on the
West Coast. Capital Solutions invests $15 million to $250 million per
investment with the ability to invest across the capital structure – debt
and minority equity - targeting companies with Enterprise Values exceeding
$100 million. The firm invests in recaps, acquisitions, bridge financings,
and ESOPS in a variety of industries, including
business services, airlines, technology, telecommunications, transportation,
logistics, manufacturing, construction, energy, and retail. The
majority of investments are cash flow driven 1st and 2nd
lien term loans.
Prior to
joining GoldenTree, Mr. Grimes was a Director at Tennenbaum Capital
Partners, LLC, where his responsibilities included sourcing, analyzing,
structuring, pricing, negotiating, and documenting $25MM - $150MM
investments. The firm, which managed $4 billion of capital, invested in
multiple layers of the capital structure – debt and equity. Prior to TCP,
he spent eight years at Congress Financial Corporation (now known as
“Wachovia Capital”) where, as a First Vice President, he concentrated on
sourcing, structuring and negotiating $10 million - $200 million asset-based
senior credit facilities. Before Congress, he was an Underwriter at
Barclays Business Credit and an auditor at Price Waterhouse. Mr. Grimes
earned his Masters of Business Administration from the University of
Southern California with a concentration in finance and his Bachelor of Arts
from the University of California at Berkeley. He earned his Certified
Public Accountant license in
California.

Gary
Ignatin is Vice President, Corporate Development at Broadcom Corporation, a
leading semiconductor company for wired and wireless communications. As
head of Corporate Development, he is responsible for all Broadcom mergers,
acquisitions and strategic investments, from initial deal sourcing,
screening and valuation through to final execution and closing. This year
he has overseen Broadcom’s acquisitions of Global Locate, a GPS silicon and
software supplier, and Octalica, a developer of solutions for networking
over coaxial cable.
Prior
to assuming this position, Mr. Ignatin served as Deputy General Counsel at
Broadcom, where he led the legal team for a number of Broadcom’s
acquisitions and investments, and represented a variety of business units in
commercial negotiations with key customers and partners. He joined Broadcom
in 2000 and is based in Irvine, California.
Mr.
Ignatin’s previous experience also includes serving as Director, Business &
Legal Affairs of the Digital Studios Division of Sony Pictures Entertainment
in Culver City. Prior to that he was an associate at Latham & Watkins in
Los Angeles, where he
represented high technology clients such as Silicon Graphics and Xerox PARC.
Mr.
Ignatin holds a B.S.E. in Computer Science from Princeton University and a
J.D. from the University of Pennsylvania Law School.

Bonnie E. Kehe joined
Comerica Bank in April 1998 and currently holds the position of Senior Vice
President and Regional Managing Director of the Technology and Life
Science’s Division. Ms. Kehe’s responsibilities include expanding the Bank’s
presence in the technology arena covering Orange County to Santa Barbara.
Ms. Kehe brings with her the experience and insight of more than 25 years of
experience in the commercial banking industry. This includes a broad
knowledge of senior debt financing including short and long-term working
capital needs, equipment financing and debt used for mergers and
acquisitions.
Prior to joining Comerica Bank, she was the Deputy Manager of
Sumitomo Bank’s Commercial Banking Group, Orange
County, where she was responsible for developing,
structuring and managing
large middle market-lending relationships. Prior to that, she spent nine
years with Sunwest Bank in Orange
County. Ms. Kehe graduated with a BS in
Economics from the University
of California, Riverside.
She is an active member of numerous technology organizations and currently
sits on the board of the Orange County Venture Group and is the Treasurer
of Temple Beth El in Aliso Viejo.

Mark Quinlan is a Managing Director and Co-Head of Electronics & Applied
Technologies Investment Banking at Thomas Weisel Partners and leads the
Firm’s activity in the Semiconductor sector. Mr. Quinlan joined the firm in
2000 and is based in New York. He has over 13 years of investment banking
experience and has worked on more than 100 completed transactions.
Mr.
Quinlan has advised on numerous mergers & acquisitions including recent
transactions involving Intel, JDS Uniphase, Microsemi, Qualcomm, and Texas
Instruments. Additionally, he has been involved with some of the
semiconductor industry’s most exciting emerging companies as they have moved
from private to public status, having completed IPOs for Atheros
Communications, Cavium Networks, Hittite Microwave, SiRF Technology and
Volterra among others. Mr. Quinlan and his team have completed numerous
strategic financings for public clients, including follow-on offerings for
FormFactor, Ikanos Communications, M-Systems and SanDisk as well as
convertible debt offerings for PMC-Sierra, RF Micro Devices and SanDisk.
Finally, Mr. Quinlan has advised on private placements for a number of
companies including Cortina Systems, Peregrine Semiconductor and TranSwitch.
Prior to joining the firm, Mr. Quinlan was an Associate in the Investment
Banking Division at Merrill Lynch. He earned an AB degree in Economics and
Politics from Princeton University.

Mel
Tang has close to a decade of corporate finance expertise, in both advisory
and operational roles. He currently heads Demand Media’s corporate
finance/business analytics team, responsible for financial forecasting and
budgeting as well as providing analytical insight to help shape business and
financial strategies.
Prior
to Demand Media, Mr. Tang was a Director in the Media Investment Banking
Group of UBS Investment Bank in
Los Angeles,
where he advised corporations on financial and strategic alternatives
ranging from M&A and leveraged buyouts to financing. Prior to UBS, Mr. Tang
was an Associate with Prime Ventures, a Santa Monica-based venture capital
firm, where he analyzed and recommended investments in early stage
companies. Before joining Prime Ventures, he was an Investment Banking
Analyst with Donaldson, Lufkin & Jenrette Securities in
Los Angeles
where he advised corporate clients and investor groups on debt and equity
financings, M&A and leveraged buy out opportunities.
Mr.
Tang graduated Magna Cum Laude from the Wharton School of Business and the
School of Engineering and Applied Science (University of Pennsylvania). Mel
holds a B.S. in Economics, Finance and a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering and
Applied Mechanics.

Todd
Vick is the Vice President of Mergers & Acquisitions for Hitachi
Consulting. In this role, he is responsible for developing acquisition
strategy, identifying acquisition candidates, negotiating and closing
transactions, coordinating the involvement of relevant partners and outside
advisors, and facilitating post-merger integration plans. He has lead
transactions in both the United States and Europe. He works directly with
Hitachi Consulting’s parent, Hitachi Ltd., to secure funding and approval
for Hitachi Consulting’s transactions. In addition, he partners with
Hitachi Ltd. on certain intra- company acquisition opportunities.
Mr.
Vick has over 17 years of experience in professional services. He served as
Chief Financial Officer of Navigator Systems for eleven years. At
Navigator, he was responsible for all finance and accounting, raising of
outside capital, investor relations, corporate governance, financial and
operations reporting and infrastructure, and merger & acquisition
activities. During his time there, Navigator was named to the Inc. 500 list
as one of the fastest growing small companies in America for five
consecutive years and eventually honored as a member of the Inc. 500 Hall of
Fame. In 2006, Navigator was acquired by Hitachi Consulting. Mr. Vick
managed Navigator’s side in the transaction. Prior to joining Navigator,
Mr. Vick worked in Arthur Andersen’s audit division for five years in a
variety of business advisory and operations roles.
Mr.
Vick earned a Bachelors of Science degree in Commerce with a focus in
Finance and a Masters of Science in Accounting, both from the University of
Virginia. He is actively involved in coaching youth sports and church
leadership. He is an avid golfer and plays squash regularly. He, his wife
and three children reside in the Dallas area.
