Systems
Thinking and Strategy
Friday,
October 21, 2005
Instructor: Bill Harris; Founder, Facilitated Systems
Strategy is vitally important to the success of most companies. This
ELI workshop will help participants discover how to apply relatively new
insights from the field of systems thinking to the challenge of strategic
planning.
We'll start by forging a common understanding of strategy and its role in
organizations. We'll take a quick, broad view of systems thinking
and then explore how one systems thinking approach can address strategic
issues effectively. Participants will practice this approach on
problems of their own choosing. We'll finish by discussing how this
relates to other systems thinking approaches for strategic planning.
By the end of the day, participants will have an approach they can apply
in their won organizations, and they'll have some idea of both its
strengths and limitations.
