About the Medal of Achievement Dinner

The 2008 Medal of Achievement Dinner was an exclusive event held at the beautiful Sofitel Hotel, and attended by industry leaders. It was the high-tech "who's who" dinner of the year.

Since 1959, the Medal of Achievement has been presented annually for significant contributions to the advancement of the high-tech industry and for distinguished service to the community, the industry and humankind. It is the highest award presented by TechAmerica.

Paul S. Otellini, President and CEO of Intel Corporation, was the 2008 recipient of the AeA Medal of Achievement Award.  Mr. Otellini joined a select group of high-tech leaders who have received the honor, including:

  • Chuck Geschke and John Warnock of Adobe Systems

  • Thomas J. Engibous of Texas Instruments Incorporated

  • William Hewlett and David Packard of Hewlett-Packard

  • Ross Perot of Electronic Data Systems

  • Thomas J. Watson, Jr. of IBM

  • Gordon Moore and Andrew Grove of Intel

Paul S. Otellini is president and CEO of Intel Corporation, the world’s leading manufacturer of microprocessors for personal and business computing.

Since joining Intel in 1974, Otellini has managed several Intel businesses, including the company’s PC and server microprocessor division and the global sales and marketing organization.  

In 2002, Otellini was elected to Intel’s board of directors and promoted to president and chief operating officer. He was named CEO in May 2005, a role in which he’s focused on driving the company’s growth and mission to deliver innovative, energy-efficient products. Under Otellini’s guidance, Intel also aims to usher in a new era when portable wireless computing is available anytime, anywhere. The company also is focused on bringing the next billion people online with affordable computers tailored to their needs.

Otellini received a bachelor's degree in economics from the University of San Francisco in 1972, and an MBA from the University of California, Berkeley in 1974. Otellini serves on the board of directors of Google Inc.
