Information & Agenda

State-specific legislation and mandates have the potential to place companies at a significant competitive disadvantage to their out-of-state counterparts, in terms of increasing the cost of the product both through the direct placement of a fee on said products or through costly compliance procedures that will need to be followed. This program is designed to enable your managers, compliance executives, legal, environmental and facilities professionals to better understand and comply, as well as to determine how your company can best position itself in the global marketplace.

Topics include:

  • Recent revisions to the WEEE and RoHS Directives, focusing on enforcement, exemption, coordination (or lack thereof) among Member States. How to ensure your products are not stopped, or worse, rejected, at the border of an important overseas market?
  • Provide an update on developments relating to the EUP regulation and discuss its potential impacts on companies
  • WEEE/RoHS “copycats” in other jurisdictions (e.g., China, Korea, California, Rhode Island, New York City, and New Jersey). What this means for the high-tech industry?
  • Overview on the REACH Regulation and all requirements for downstream users. Importers of articles into the EU will have to notify certain substances contained in these articles. Some chemicals might be subject to authorization for use in the EU.
  • Pending legislation in the states.

  • Best practices from your peers.

Speakers:

Kenneth S. Rivlin (biography), Partner at Allen & Overy LLP
Bettina Enderle (biography), Counsel at Allen & Overy LLP
Steve Andrews (biography), Head of Unit at the Department for Business, Enterprise & Regulatory Reform (BERR)

Who Should Attend?
