Ted Dean,
Managing Director of BDA, is responsible for overseeing BDA's Consulting
Department. He has extensive experience advising foreign telecom and technology firms on
their market entry into China including managing projects assisting a foreign handset
vendor to identify potential joint venture partners, advising a foreign systems integrator
on market entry, and developing strategies for a wide range of foreign telecom and
technology firms seeking to participate in the China market. Mr. Dean is a regular contributor to the South China
Morning Post technology section and has also written columns on telecom and technology in
China for the China Business Review, the China Economic Review, and other industry
publications. He is a frequent speaker at industry events
including Internet World (Beijing and Singapore) and CommunicAsia (Singapore, 2000 and
2001). Mr. Dean holds an honors B.A. in History from Yale University and also
studied at Nankai University and Beijing Normal University.
Mr. Dean will provide an overview of recent
developments in the telecom and technology markets in China and discuss some of the key
issues companies face planning their market entry including whether to partner, who to
partner with, and what pitfalls to watch out for. He will also discuss the business impact
of SARS for foreign investors in China.
AnnMarie
Treglia, Director of International Trade Regulation for AeA Advancing the
Business of Technology, is responsible for AeAs Export Controls and Customs
Committees, and also manages certain issues currently subject to international trade
negotiations, such as the Free Trade Area of the Americas (FTAA). Mrs. Treglia received
her bachelors degree from St. Marys College in South Bend, Indiana, with a
major in Psychology and minor in Italian language. She received her masters degree
from The American University in Washington, D.C., in International Affairs concentrating
in International Economic Policy.
Mrs. Treglia will discuss export and
customs and what you need to know in these areas for doing business internationally
especially in China.
