U.S. Export Controls:
Key Regulatory Compliance and Security Considerations

Event Summary  - Photo Gallery - Your Recommendations Invited

Event Summary

On Thursday, December 7, 2006, AeA New England presented an ITAR seminar, U.S. Export Controls:  Key Regulatory Compliance and Security Considerations.  The seminar, part of AeA’s International series, was preceded by a successful one-hour ITAR webinar, held back in October and, again, presented by AeA New England.  Both ITAR programs were presented by Kerry Scarlott, Esq., of AeA Signature member, Posternak, Blankstein & Lund, LLP.  Additional presenters at the seminar included Marija Jankovich, Esq., also of Posternak, Blankstein and Lund, LLP and David McCaffrey, a Senior Consultant specializing in Corporate Security and Regulatory Compliance.  The program was attended by approximately 25 AeA member and non-member companies.

The program was hosted by AeA member company, Cadence Design Systems, Inc., located in Chelmsford, MA.  Cadence is the world's leading EDA technologies and engineering services company. The company helps its customers break through their challenges by providing leading edge electronic design solutions that speed advanced IC and system designs to volume production.

Kerry, Marija and David presented a lively program, which included a great deal of audience participation and interaction.  The three provided cutting edge information designed to forestall enforcement activities against businesses including:  the Export Administration Regulations, ITAR, Antiboycott Regulations and Foreign Corrupt Practices Act.  They also provided the group with insight as to how to determine which regulatory regime applies to particular business activities and how you can establish an effective security and compliance program.  Audience feedback indicated that the presenters’ updates on recent enforcement trends and lessons learned from recent enforcement actions were extremely beneficial to them.  Best practice tips were also provided.

The next AeA New England International series event, Keeping Your Company Trade Compliant, will be held on May 9, 2007.  Sponsorship and hosting opportunities are available. Contact Diane Donaghey at 781.938.1925 x104 for information.  For program details, visit www.aeanet.org/TradeCompliant
