Speakers (alpha order)
  • Christa Bleyleben, Executive Director, Massachusetts Office of International Trade and Investment.  MOITI is responsible for growing the Massachusetts economy by marketing the state’s business sectors internationally via focused export promotion, attracting foreign companies to invest in Massachusetts and managing the state’s international business relationships related to trade and investment.
         Christa joined MOITI following more than 20 years in international banking and finance. While at FleetBoston Financial, she oversaw the bank’s International Financial Institutions team with offices in London, Hong Kong, Boston and New York City, and was responsible for global relationships with more than 250 top-tier banking groups headquartered in Europe, the Middle East, Africa, Asia, Canada, Latin America as well as select central banks and national organizations. Christa has a Masters in Business Administration and International Finance from the Vienna School of Business in Austria. She speaks German and French.
     
  • Yoon Hong Cho, Chief Executive Director, Boston Branch, Korea IT International Cooperation Agency (KIICA).  KIICA is a non-profit, international business development organization within Korea’s Ministry of Information and Communications responsible for linking Korean IT vendors with American businesses, end users, and distribution channels. He is an accomplished senior executive with more than 20 years experience and is responsible for the market entry and integration of the Korean IT Industry into the U.S. Federal/State/Local and commercial markets.
         Prior to KIICA-Boston, Mr. Cho was the Chief Executive Director of KIIPA (Korean IT Industry Promotion Agency) overseeing global operations and business performance. Prior to KIIPA Mr. Cho was the General Manager of Daewoo Group where his responsibilities included international market development for the passenger vehicle division in Eastern Europe. Mr. Cho also served as General Manager of Daewoo Information Systems focusing on business development in the Japanese market.
         Mr. Cho holds international economic degrees from Chuo University-Japan and Matushita-Seikeijuku Government and Economic Institute-Japan. He speaks Japanese and English.
     
  • Jack Daniels, President, Eastbridge Partners, has over 24 years experience in engineering, manufacturing operations, marketing & sales, finance, regulatory compliance and international business development. He has lived and worked in China and the Republic of Korea. Jack was the Director of Asian Operations of Rogers Corporation a USD300M manufacturer of advanced materials used in the computer, handheld electronics, office automation and telecommunication industries. During his tenure, Jack established a network of commercial offices, service centers and a manufacturing campus in Mainland China. In a seven-year period, he increased sales from USD6M/USD109M.
        Jack also worked in executive roles for GE Plastics and Taconic Plastics, where he launched several successful subsidiaries and joint ventures in the Asia-Pacific region. He is a graduate of Northeastern University and holds a combined Environmental Engineering and Regional Planning degree. He is a board member and trustee of several non-profit organizations in the Boston area.
      
  • Daniel Holland, Director of Marketing and Business Development for the Boston branch of the Korea IT International Cooperation Agency, has worked broadly throughout the IT and networks and communications industry, concentrating on the design and implementation of global capabilities to bring the right products and services to market faster and to increase the profitability from existing products. His focus is to ensure that approaches that can be articulated at a conceptual or goal level are translated into timely and realistic implementation.
       Previously, Daniel worked for Enterasys Networks as Vice President of Systems Integrator and OEM Development establishing successful partnerships with leading systems integrators and opening new routes to market. He also worked for the Services Division of Digital Equipment Corporation (and then Compaq Computer) where he was instrumental in the formation and rapid growth of their enterprise IT management Service Practice. His experience at Digital Equipment Corporation includes leadership roles for services and product management and marketing, and software engineering. He was responsible for the conception, commercialization and successful launch of numerous network and systems management software products for the Networks and Communications Division. Dan holds a Bachelor of Arts from St. Lawrence University in Canton, N.Y. and an Executive MBA in International Business from Bond University in Queensland, Australia.
     
  • Greg T. Shea, President and Managing Director, US IT Office (USITO), AeA’s office in China, has extensive experience in assisting U.S. companies in the Chinese market.  A recognized leader in the IT and communications community in China, he will review key trends and developments impacting high tech companies doing business in this key worldwide market.
         Following completion in 1987 of his M.Sc. at the University of British Columbia, Greg came to China as an invited foreign expert of the Chinese government. In 1990, he joined the Canadian Foreign Service, returning to Asia with postings in Seoul (S&T, media and academic relations), and Hong Kong (Director, Economic and Financial Relations). In 1997, he left for the private sector where he served as a regional marketing manager for HP's semiconductor group. Promotions followed in 1998 as Director for China Government Affairs and Communications and 1999 as Asia Government Affairs Director for Agilent. During this period Dan  served on USITO's board as well as the U.S. Government Affairs Committee of the American Chamber in Beijing.
         In 2000, Greg joined a Siemens CITIC joint venture in charge of new venture investment, working with startups in e-Learning, e-commerce, and mobile data software and terminals. During this time, he also served as Chair of the E-Commerce China Forum under the Ministry of Commerce. In 2002-4, he was engaged in a number of key strategy roles including serving as expert team leader for the EU China Information Society Project as well as advising on RFID standards and pilot project development. From the Spring of 2004, he served as Sun Microsystems' North Asia Government Industry Director until joining USITO in the Fall of 2005.  Greg is a Canadian and Irish dual national and speaks English, Mandarin and French.
     
  • Edward L. W. Soong, President, Anew Technology Corp., has over 20 years experience in doing business in China and Asia. He was the Senior Director of Business Development in Wang Lab’s Asia Pacific Operations. Born in Shanghai, China and raised in Taiwan with dual U.S. and China cultural background and experience, he has contributed greatly for U.S. companies prospering in the Asia Pacific market.
        In Anew, Ed spearheaded an instant turnkey China Operations service – “Anew Silk Road” -- with a well-structured methodology and practice in consulting and outsourcing to bring U.S. companies to China/Asia market to compete and profit. This service contributes to the top line and bottom line tremendously as well as the long-term competitiveness for U.S. companies.
        Ed is an advisor, consultant, and speaker on Chinese cultural and business related subjects. He has been a speaker at Harvard Business School’s Annual Asia Business Conference and conducted “Doing Business in China” training class for companies such as Raytheon. Ed has a B.S. degree in Electronic Engineering, an M.E. in Electrical Engineering, a M.S. in Computer Science, and a M.B.A. Ed is also a co-inventor for three pending US patents.
     
  • John E. Warren, III, Vice President, Worldwide Human Resources, ANADIGICS, Inc. is an experienced human resources executive with over 25 years of expertise at global technology, manufacturing, and services firms including UNISYS, Hayward Industries, and Alphanet Solutions. John joined ANADIGICS in June, 1999 as Vice President, Worldwide Human Resources and Corporate Services. John handles the establishment and support of all the company's international locations. He holds a B.S, M.A. and M.B.A. degrees.
     
  • David L. Woronov, Partner, Posternak Blankstein & Lund LLP, is a member of the firm’s Corporate department. He will review legal issues around choice of entities when doing business in China and the Asia Pac, tax considerations and trends in litigation and arbitration (through China's CIETAC agency).
        David practices in the areas of domestic and international business law, corporate and project finance and private equity. David works very closely as a “general counsel” with clients, and assists them with all phases of business planning, structuring, development and management.
         A former resident of the United Kingdom, David has represented both U.S. and foreign clients in transactions all over the world, with particular focus in European and Asian markets. He received an A.B. with honors from Duke University and a J.D. with honors from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
