Michael Everett Capuano is currently serving his
third term as a Representative in Congress for Massachusetts' historic
Eighth District, Cambridge, Somerville and 70% of Boston after being elected
to this office in November of 1998. Congressman Capuano is a member of the
House Committee on Transportation and Infrastructure, including the
Subcommitte on Aviation and the Subcommittee on Highways & Transit; and the
House Committee on Financial Services, including the Subcommittee on Capital
Markets, Insurance, & Government Sponsored Enterprises and the Subcommittee
on Housing & Community Opportunity. He also serves on the House Democratic
Leadership team as a Regional Whip, an Assistant Whip and as a member of the
House Democratic Steering and Policy Committee. He serves on a number of
Congressional Caucuses, including: Human Rights, Coast Guard, Census, Korea,
Medicare, Biomedical, Community Health Centers, Empowerment Zone and
Enterprise Community; Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency, and the
Missing and Exploited Children's Caucus.
While in the Congress, Representative Capuano has been a strong voice for
his constituents. He has searched for ways to create more affordable housing
opportunities for constituents and fought against cuts to the Department of
Housing and Urban Development (HUD) budget that would unfairly impact those
most in need of assistance.
Prior to his election to Congress, Mike Capuano held a variety of
elective offices. Mike served as Alderman for Ward Five in Somerville,
Massachusetts, as an Alderman-at-Large, and in November of 1989, he was
elected Mayor of Somerville, where he served until being elected to
Congress, resigning in January of 1999. Mike was born in Somerville,
Massachusetts. Capuano received a Bachelor of Arts from Dartmouth College,
and a law degree from Boston College Law School and is a member of the
Massachusetts Bar. Mike is married to a CPA, Barbara Capuano, and lives with
his two sons.
This AeA Legislative Roundtable presents a great opportunity for you to let
Congressman Capuano know what issues are most pertinent to your company and
to build or strengthen your relationship with this important state leader.

The Inficon office is located in the building (One Cambridge Center) that
faces onto Main Street, opposite 290 Main, and is literally next door to the
Kendall Square T stop (subway station), the MIT Coop, and the Marriott
Hotel.
The closest parking is just west of the Marriott. If you park in this
garage, take the elevator at the rear of the garage to ground level, then
turn left and walk straight through the food court, into the open-air plaza,
around the tall tower-with-gold-diamond-on-top to left, past the Boston
Private Bank office, into the lobby of One Cambridge Center.
If you've parked elsewhere along Broadway or left your car with the
attendant at the Marriott, walk straight through the hotel lobby and you'll
come out in the open-air plaza mentioned above.
From the North
From I-93 South, take Exit 26 (Storrow Drive); immediately move into the
left lane and proceed approximately 1/2 mile to the Government
Center/Kendall Square offramp on the left (ongoing "Big Dig" construction
may cause changes; watch for signs to Kendall Square). Go up the ramp and
turn right at the light onto Longfellow Bridge. Proceed through the
intersection at the end of the Longfellow Bridge onto Broadway. You will see
the Cambridge Center Marriott on your left. Immediately past this is the
parking garage mentioned above. You can enter this garage by making a U-turn
(legal at the gap in the median).
From the South
From I-93 North, exit right at the Cambridge/Storrow Drive exit. When the
ramp splits, bear right following signs to Storrow Drive. Exit left at the
Kendall Square exit. At traffic light take a right onto the Longfellow
Bridge. Proceed through the intersection at the end of the Longfellow Bridge
onto Broadway. You will see the Cambridge Center Marriott on your left.
Immediately past this is the parking garage mentioned above. You can enter
this garage by making a U-turn (legal at the gap in the median).
From the West
From the Massachusetts Turnpike (I-90 East), exit left at exit 18,
Cambridge/Allston. Bear right off exit towards Cambridge. Go straight
through two lights (in quick succession) and over bridge, then turn right
onto Memorial Drive (at the Mobil station). Follow Memorial Drive past the
exits for the Boston University bridge (signs to Brookline and Cambridgeport)
and the Massachusetts Avenue bridge (signs for Route 2A), then watch closely
for a left lane exit for Kendall Square. After exiting left and crossing
Memorial Drive, continue straight onto Wadsworth Street, then take the first
left onto Amherst Street. At the end of Amherst Street, turn right onto Ames
Street. Go through a set of traffic lights at Main Street, then turn right
into the parking garage mentioned above, or proceed to the next light, turn
right on Broadway, and leave your car at the Marriott.
