On February 2nd, 2006, AeA presented a Breakfast Roundtable on Avoiding the Bad Hire: Background Checks that Work.  Held at AeA member company Viisage in Billerica, MA, the event was designed for HR professionals and general counsels. 

The roundtable began with a brief presentation by Kara McLaughlin, CEO of The Survey Group, who presented a research study on background checks. Following, Judith A. Malone, Partner, and Stephanie A. Bruce, Associate - both from Edwards Angell Palmer & Dodge LLP gave a presentation on legal pitfalls to avoid when using background checks. 

Attendees also heard best practices from George Peterman, Vice President Human Resources, American Science & Engineering, Inc. and Kathy Lane, Manager Human Resources, MKS Instruments, Inc.
