Galvin, the CEO of Motorola, Inc. led a list of luminaries that attended the AeA
60th Anniversary Congressional Celebration on May 15, 2003.Hosted by the AeA Board
of Directors, more than 350 people attended the 60th Anniversary
celebration, including Members of Congress, 22 Chief Information Officers and
Procurement officials from 16 different federal agencies, officials from the
White House and the Bush Administration, and 23 CEO’s representing high-tech
companies.
Mr.
Galvin’s appearance at the dinner was to both celebrate the 60th
Anniversary of AeA and the 75th anniversary of the founding of
Motorola. In his keynote address,
Mr. Galvin spoke about the founding of Motorola and its evolution into the
global leader in providing integrated communications and embedded electronic
solutions. Mr. Galvin also
spoke about the critical role AeA has played in promoting the high-tech
industry, including its leadership on critical public
policy initiatives.
A
reception was held prior to the dinner, where AeA members met with leading
officials of the federal government and Congress, including Rep. Jim Kolbe
(R-AZ), Rep. Cal Dooley (D-CA), Mark Forman, the U.S. Administrator for
E-Government and Information Technology, Norm Lorentz, the Chief Information
Officer of the U.S. Government, Steve Cooper, the Chief Information Officer of
the Department of Homeland Security, and Nancy Victory, the head of the National
Telecommunications and Information Agency. The AeA 60th Anniversary dinner was part of the AeA Board of
Directors meeting. Earlier in the
day, the AeA Board of Directors met with several members of Congress and key
federal procurement officials.

David
Packard of Hewlett-Packard, along with 12 other companies, founded AeA in 1943.
Today, AeA has grown into the nation’s largest trade association
representing the high-tech industry, with more than 3,000 members and 19
offices, including offices in Beijing and Brussels.
