New Case on Korea's CDNetworks |
|
Institute Professor Robert Burgelman, world renowned
for his research on Intel’s success strategies, plans to write a
new business case on Korean company CDNetworks which has a 65% market
share in the Korean Content Delivery Network (CDN) market and has
successfully expanded into digital media markets in U.S, Japan and
China.
The CEO Samuyul Ko commented that his company will now join
Hyundai Motors and Samsung Electronics to be only the third Korean
company to be a subject of a business case wtiteup.
The case will highlight CDNetwork's history, world
wide prospects and competition in the mass media industry.
Burgelman will also explore their CEO Samuyul Ko’s philosophy of
management. The CDNetworks case
will be used in Stanford University Graduate School of Business
classes and will be included in Burgelman's new textbook.

Strategic Management
Text
Added to Institute |
|
Institute attendees will now
receive the 4th Edition of Strategic
Management of Technology and Innovation by Burgelman,
Christensen, and Wheelwright. Previously, the Institute
had provided cases and excerpts from this work, but will now
distribute the text in its entirety.
A powerful combination of text, readings,
and cases, this book encapsulates the latest research on critical business challenges.
Approximately 40% of the cases are new and almost all the cases deal with recent
situations, including several on the Internet impact on business. A few "classics" have been retained, since they
capture a timeless problem so definitively that they are still
very relevant.
|

|
Strategic management of technology and
innovation are explored through the perspective of general
managers at the product line, business unit, and corporate levels. The book
addresses the interaction between each of these management levels
- providing examples and details on how product strategy and
business unit strategy link to business and corporate level
technology strategy.
