Valuable New
Opportunities Abound
“A Message From Justin Wright, Executive Director, AeA New
York”
Dear AeA New
York Council Member,
I wanted to make sure you
are aware of the exciting developments the
AeA NY Council is pursuing on behalf of our member companies. AeA New
York has entered into a strategic partnership with
Albany Nanotech that includes relocation of the New York office to the
Albany Nanotechnology Complex.
With our members and
through our strategic alliance with Albany Nanotech we will work to identify
new market opportunities and leverage the investments and broad capabilities
that exist in New York’s “Center’s
of Excellence” program. In conjunction with our many partners we will
advocate on behalf of new research consortiums targeting these new markets
and work with policy makers at all levels of government to see them
implemented.
To insure that the
innovation infrastructure (high quality education, research & development
and a technology friendly business environment) remains strong in New York
we have initiated a relationship with contract lobbying firm
Brown, McMahon & Weinraub.
BMW will assist AeA in
becoming the “Voice of Technology in New York State” by working to build
relationships at all levels of government including but not limited to New
York State & New York City. AeA is seeking to provide high quality
information to elected officials and public policy makers to assist them in
implementing policy that is representative of the needs of the high-tech
industry in New York and across the nation. Please feel free to contact me
to participate on the NY “State Government Affairs Committee”.
In addition, AeA has launched a new
Technology for Government (T4G) Task Force. The T4G Task Force offers
efficient and productive strategies for working with government, and assists
companies in obtaining federal and state contracts. The committee aids in
steering the national programs and events within AeA, and helps manage the
national and state relationships maintained with government agencies and
contracting partners. In addition, the committee is frequently involved in
preparing detailed comments for U.S. and foreign government officials and
congressional committees.
T4G members currently include: AAJ Technologies, American Science and
Engineering, Apple Computer, Cienna, Citrix, Freescale, Hewlett-Packard,
Infovista, Intel, Manugistics, Oberthur, Palm, Secure Computing, Symantec,
Symbol Technologies and Sun Microsystems among many others. The T4G group
acts as a steering committee to help guide AeA’s procurement resources.
AeA’s T4G events and meetings provide access to key government partners.
I encourage all
AeA New York members to take advantage of the AeA
“Technology for Government Dinner” to be held June 7, 2006 in
Washington, DC. For a $1,500 table sponsorship gain visibility and access
to hundreds of industry, congressional, and government leaders
together at one venue. Last year more than 500 people attended the dinner
including Members of Congress, 30 Chief Information Officers, procurement
officials from over 20 different Federal agencies, officials from the Bush
Administration, and dozens of CEO’s representing high-tech companies.
Previous years' attendees included General
Steven Boutelle, Chief Information Officer, U.S. Dept. of the Army;
Scott Charbo, Chief Information Officer, Dept. of Homeland Security;
Scott Hasting, Chief Information Officer, Dept. of Homeland Security,
U.S. Visit; and Bruce James, The Public Printer, U.S. Government
Printing Office; Dee Lee, Director of Procurement Policy for the
Department of Defense; Rep. Steny Hoyer (D-MD); Rep. Cal Dooley
(D-CA); and Phil Bond, Undersecretary of Commerce for Technology.
AeA New York is proud of
the diverse mix of high tech companies we serve. We are working hard to
identify new and innovative ways to deliver value to our members top and
bottom line. Please feel free to contact me with any questions you may have
about these exciting developments.
Sincerely,
Justin M. Wright
Executive Director
AeA New York Council
