Removing the Benefits Blindfold:
What AeA Members Learned on
June 17, 2003

Gottfried Sehringer of SOFTRAX welcomes the attendees.

Curtis Mead, Bencomp addresses the attentive audience on June 17, 2003, at SOFTRAX in Canton, MA.

Event Summary

On June 17, 2003, AeA hosted a HR Breakfast roundtable on the topic of Removing the Benefits Blindfold: Communicating the Total Benefits Package at AeA Member Company, SOFTRAX in Canton, MA.

Curtis Mead, President of BenComp Communications, Inc., discussed the importance of providing benefits statements to employees in your company. Studies have shown that 50% of employees are not aware of all the benefits available to them.  Therefore, the two main reasons for providing benefits statements to employees are to make employees aware of the total benefits they are receiving through the company; and secondly, to give employees an understanding of how much the company is spending in addition to their salary.

He then proceeded to present various tools and methods for communicating the benefits to employees through statements, newsletters and email. The result of a benefits awareness campaign can result in increased retention, reduced recruitment costs, reduced training costs, improved productivity and increased ROI. This creates a win-win situation for both company and employees as the talent pool is retained and effectiveness is maintained or increased.

The AeA roundtable provided an excellent opportunity for member company senior executives to meet and learn about how to communicate the total value of the benefits package to their employees in an informal, intimate setting. Special thanks to SOFTRAX for hosting this event.
