March 31, 2009: TechAmerica
Report Shows that Tech Industry Remains Bright Spot in Georgia Economy
The Cyberstates 2009 report - which details national and state
trends in high-tech employment, wages, and other key economic factors for
all 50 states, the District of Columbia, and Puerto Rico - shows that
Georgia's high-tech industry added 13,000 net jobs to its economy,
totaling 177,500 in 2007, the most current year for which state data is
available. This is the second net job gain since the bursting of the tech
bubble in 2001. The average Georgia tech worker earned $79,700 in 2007, or
87 percent more than the state’s average private sector wage of $42,700....read

Cybercities 2008
examines the high-tech industry in the nation’s 60 largest
metro areas focusing on tech employment, wages, establishments,
payroll, employment concentration, and wage differential. The
report compares different U.S. regions and delves into the 16 sectors that
comprise the high-tech industry for these 60 cities. |

February 11, 2009: AeA High
Tech Day at the Capital
Norcross High School (Gwinnett County Public Schools) students of the
FIRST Robotics team "Gear Devils," made up of 30 students from grades 9-12
present their robots to Georgia state legislators at the 2008 AeA High
Tech Day at the Capital Reception in Atlanta.

Approximately 75% of team alumni are pursuing or have earned a degree in
engineering or a related technology field.
