Orange County, Costa Mesa, May 14, 2009.
The 16th Annual High-Tech Innovation Awards,
themed "Inventing The Future," directed the spotlight of innovation and
U.S. competitiveness on Orange County.
This was an extra special evening where
we recognized outstanding achievements of innovation in the categories
of Harvey Mudd College Green Engineering, Innovative Product/Technology
In 2008, Outstanding Public/Private CEO In Technology, Outstanding
Public/Private Technology Company, Outstanding Woman In Technology, and
TechAmerica Lifetime Achievement Award, which was award to Nick E. Yocca,

Report Shows that Tech Industry Remains Vital to California Economy

Cyberstates 2009 provides
2008 national tech trends on employment and venture capital
investments as well as the latest data on state employment, wages,
establishments, payroll, and research and development. |
The Cyberstates 2009 report - which details national and state
trends in high-tech employment, wages, and other key economic factors for
all 50 states, the District of Columbia, and Puerto Rico - shows that
California's high-tech industry added 2,000 net jobs for an industry total
of 942,700 in 2007, the most current year for which state data is
available. This marks the third net increase in jobs since the tech bubble
began to burst in 2000. Leading the way in job creation were computer
systems design and related services (+12,600 jobs), R&D and testing labs
(+8,800), and engineering services (+2,500 jobs)...read

Thirty-three senior level international TechAmerica members and
non-members attended the premier Global Connect Program
Focus On The Americas: Navigating The Maze of Export Resources.
Organized for small to medium sized companies looking to expand the market for
their products/services to Canada, Mexico, Central or
South America, the program featured key speakers from the U.S.
Department of Commerce’s Commercial Service and the Bureau of Industry
and Security, and the U.S. Small Business Administration (with an
emphasis on International Trade Finance Programs). The program also
featured keynote speaker Imad Boukai, President of General Procurement,
Inc., who who delivered a case study on his experience in expanding his
company’s computer business into several countries in the Americas. The
program was followed by a Q&A panel discussion.
